1. IILS - Industry Interface Lecture Series for Students:
With an aim to impart practical industrial knowledge to industry specific MBA students, CMSR has taken up the initiate to organize Industry Interface lecture Series from current academic year.
In this series the FIRST Talk was organized on 22nd July, 2017 on the topic of “ Investment opportunities in financial products for beginners" by Mr. Johnson Kandi, Sr. Manager (HR) Tradebulls Securities Pvt. Ltd was invited for the session.
The Second Talk was organized on 26th August, 2017 on the topic of “Role of Media in Pharma Sector”. The eminent expert was Mr. Kamal Bhatt, founder and Managing Director of a startup named “HealthEdge Communications”.
On 9th November 2017, the 3rd Talk was organized on the topic of “Strategic International Sourcing” by Ms Lipi Gajjar, Assistant Manager, Zydus Cadila Healthcare. She talked about involvement of international alliances in services industry with real life examples.
On 23rd Novmeber, Mr Ranjeet Rajput, Assistant General Manager, Lambda Therapeutics Research Pvt Ltd, delivered an expert talk on “Cultural Orientation in International Marketing” as part of 4th talk in the series.
2. Ganpat University, Ex MBA Alumni-GEMS 15th meet:
Since inception, every year, GEMS – the Alumni Association of Ex MBA students of Ganpat University, Faculty of Management studies organizes alumni meet to provide a platform to all the alumni to relive their college life memories with their old buddies. This year the 15th Alumni meet was very special and motivational as the meeting organized in the presence of the founder leader, Shri Ganpatbhai Patel, Patron in Chief, Ganpat University. Shri Gnapatbhai shared the moments of foundation of Ganpat University and shared the journey of excellence. He felt very proud to see more then 200 alumni contributing successfully in their respective field. He addressed the gathering with his motivational and very inspirational speech. He also interacted with alumni with open heart. On the occasion, the President of Ganpat University Shri Anilbhai Patel sent his blessings. Dr. Mahendra Sharma, Director General, Ganpat University sent his message to alumni and appealed the alumni to Engage, Energize and Enhance Institute’s leadership through a strong bonding.
During the General body meeting, various agenda on development of alma mater were discussed. It was unanimously, decided to organized “Alumni Lecture Series” at institutes as an effort to bridge the gap between industry academic interface. Many alumni attended the GEMS with their family members. Apart from formal discussion, the alumni played Grand Housie and the prizes.
3. Level Based Workshop on “Research Paper Writing and Application of SPSS – Level II”:
With an objective to bridge the beginners and research concept and professional writing technique Ganpat University, Centre for Management Studies and Research organized a level based workshop on “Research Paper writing and Application of SPSS”. The workshop is divided into three levels. The levels are scheduled at several intervals to give time to the learners to understand and practice the tools.
Level-I: focusing the technical writing, conceptual teaching and application of SPSS tools for basic level analysis (organized on 17 December, 2017)
Level-II : focusing on Hands-on Practice on literature review drafting, application of analytical tools on actual data and application of ANOVA and other regression methods with practice work. (organized on 7 January, 2018)
Level-III: focusing on writing and presenting a research paper in consultation with subject matter specialists.
The workshop received 43 participants from various colleges across Gujarat. The participant group was blend of researchers and faculty members from fields like commerce, science, engineering and management. The content writing topic was delivered by Dr. Sapna Parashar, Associate Professor, Nirma Univerisity. Dr. Vivek Bhatt, Senior Faculty from Amrut Mody School of Management delivered session on Scaling and Measurement Techniques, Research Design and Sampling Techniques and Dr. Hitesh Parmar, Dept. of Business Management, S.P. University talked about Advance level data analysis. Dr. Rachita Jayswal and Dr Nirav Halvadiya explained the Basic Level Data Analysis to the beginners. Dr Tejal Shah coordinated the Level-I workshop.
4. Workshop on “Learn the Basics of Photography and DSLR”:
A One-day workshop was organized for photography enthusiast to learn the basics of professional photography and DSLRs with actual training on various tools and equipment of the camera and its use in different shades of lights. 52 participants from different colleges of Ahmedabad participated in the workshop.
5. Industry Expert Session on"How to be successful Exporter?"
Industry expert session was organized on 30th August 2016 in association with Federation of Indian Export Organisations. Mr. Kaushalendra Pratapsingh, Deputy Directorate General of Foreign Trade (Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India), Mr. Nathabhai Nangas Assistant DGFT (Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India) and Mr. Jayprakash Goel, Head, Federation of Indian Export Organisations (WR), Ahmedabad delivered expert talk. The theme of the session was “How to be a successful Exporter? Session covered standard procedure to be an Exporter, detail description about documents required for the same and key skills set required to be a successful exporter. The experts guided the students to create the link between Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India and small scale companies. They also explained how to use the official weblinks for data mining and market analysis practically. The entire event was sponsored by Federation of Indian Export Organisations.
6. Industry Expert Session on "Negotiation is a Science or Art?"
The Industry expert session was organized on 13th August 2016 on “Negotiation is a Science or Art?” Mr. Neelkamal Mohanty, CEO, Rthym Infocom.
Pvt. Ltd delivered the expert talk with presentation and role play, which has covered the practical aspects and real time examples from industry related to
negotiation. The students of FMS attended the session with full strength.
7.“Nitty-Gritty of Export Management”
To provide a platform to the students of management to get the real life learning from the industry experts, Faculty of Management Studies initiated to organize the series of Student Development Workshops. The theme for different workshop is planned to identifie on basis of relevant contemporary issues, focusing on one or group of industries, which links the theoretical approach to practical one.
In similar line, on 30-31 October 2015, FMS organized a student development workshop on “Nitty-Gritty of Export Management” with an aim to impart practical and intensive training to the students to take time out to learn on an idea they already have on Export Management. The skills and knowledge that participants will acquire at this workshop will enable them to implement and interlink the theoretical knowledge into the actual business environment. The workshop conducted by Mr. Pankaj Ahir, a Renowned Consultant on International Business Development. The highlighted topics of the workshop were Innovative ways of export, Export Cycle & Procedure, Export Management & Marketing, SPANCO Methodology, Export Strategy Designing, Information Technology and Export Marketing & Strategy, INCOTERMS, International Payment Terms, Understanding of Letter of Credit (L/C), Export Finance & FOREX, Overseas business trip planning, Understanding of Excise procedure for export, Shipping & Custom Procedure for export / import and Export Incentive Schemes by GOI. Each session was followed by question answer rounds and practical case studies.
8. Agripreneurship Development Programme in association with The Centre for Entrepreneurship Development – Gandhinagar
On 22 February 2016 to 25 February 2016, Faculty of Management Studies has organized a Student development workshop for Agripreneurship in association with CED, Gandhinagar. This five days workshop is designed to get the opportunity to have direct interaction of the students to Government officials and entrepreneurs. The issues covered under this workshop were “Government support for small entrepreneurs / Industrial policy 2015”, “E-commerce – a platform for Agri. and food and farm produce product”, “Social Entrepreneurship –opportunity in rural and agriculture sector”, “Business opportunity in Agri.Business”, “Horticulture –commercial importance and various schemes of State Govt”, “Technical and commercial aspects of small business, “Importance of hygiene for Agro food processing- applicable law overview” and “Export / Import / Value addition in Agri produce” etc. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. C. Chatterjee, Director, CED, Gandhinagar, Dr. Vinod Jain, Director, Paraj Organics and Dr. Mahendra Sharma, Director, Ganpat University.
9. Fifth National Case Writing Workshop: Organized by- GNU – FMS (Ganpat University – Faculty of Management Studies); Supported by AIMS On January 17 – 18, 2014
On January 17 - 18, 2014 GNU-FMS (Ganpat University – Faculty of management Studies) organized a national level ‘Fifth Case Writing Workshop’. The workshop received overwhelming response in terms of 48 participants across the state, Institutions and Organizations i.e. ONGC, The Indian Express, Creating Impact, Saket Projects Limited, Mudra Institute of Communication, Ahmedabad (MICA), Saint Kabir Institute of Professional Studies, Noble Group of Institutions to name a few. On the first day, the workshop was inaugurated by distinguished presence of Dr. Mahendra Sharma (Director, Ganpat University), and Dr. Sapna Parashar (Institute of Management, Nirma University). In total 8 team were formatted consisting of 6 participants each. All the 8 teams have visited their respective organization e.g, 94.3 My FM, Gulab Oil, Prompt Softech, Khushi Advertising, Just Mexican, Jaihind Projects Limites, Transport Corporation of India (TCI) and Hearty Mart for identifying key areas and discuss the real – time problem faced by them.
On the second day, in the first case writing expert session all the teams had drafted the title, outline and the first paragraph of the case study as per the guidelines provided by the organizations. After receiving experts comments, in the second case writing expert session all the teams had prepared the rough draft of their case study which was followed by the presentation in the third case writing expert session. Necessary corrections and valuable feedback of experts were incorporated in the case study by all the teams and final copy was submitted to their respective organization for the approval. At last the workshop ended with the valedictory session with the presence of Dr. Mahendra Sharma (Director, Ganpat University) and Dr. Sapna Parashar (Institute of Management, Nirma University). Both the dignitaries have honored all the participants with certificates along with vote of thanks by coordinators of Fifth National Case Writing Workshop.
10.Heritage Walk for Management students:
Management students should learn to identify, evaluate and analyze the real business environment with actual exposure. To impart the quality and value based education, to acquaint students with business environment, to explore and to associate management concepts with the Heritage flair of the World’s First Heritage City-Ahmedabad a Heritage Walk was organized for first year management students of Ganpat University, Centre for Management studies and Research on 9January 2018.
