1. IILS - Industry Interface Lecture Series for Students:

With an aim to impart practical industrial knowledge to industry specific MBA students, CMSR has taken up the initiate to organize Industry Interface lecture Series from current academic year.

Mr. Brijesh Chauhan, Cluster manager Branch Banking at AU Small Finance Bank delivered the Ninth Talk on “Evolution of banking in digital era” on 13th November, 2019. Mr. Chauhan emphasized on the need of the strong Banking structure in economy for the overall development of the country.

The Eight talk of Industry Interface Lecture Series was organized on 12th September, 2019 on “Emergence from the Exponential Future” by Mr. Sameer Soni-Executive Director, Times Group. 

Alumni sponsored Industry Interface Lecture Series the Seventh Talk organized on 26th October, 2018. Expert speaker Dr. Shashikant Bhagat, National Institute of Mass Communication and Journalism elaborated on a current topic "Digital Media Orientation". 

Alumni sponsored Industry Interface Lecture Series the Sixth Talk organized on 24th September, 2018. The esteemed speaker was Mr. Pratik Shah, Regional Manager, Gujarat, Walter Bushnell Pvt. Ltd. He spoke on the topic "Sales and Marketing Management in Modern Times". He was accompanied by our successful alumni Ankit Patel and KanxitRav who were placed in the same company in 2016. Both interacted with the students and guided them how to get prepared for the placement process.

On 17th September 2018, Mr. Subhodh Kumar, Deputy CGM of Times of India delivered an expert talk on the topic of “Impact of Media Industry on Social behavior and its future” as a part of the Fifth Talk.

On 23rd Novmeber, Mr Ranjeet Rajput, Assistant General Manager, Lambda Therapeutics Research Pvt Ltd, delivered an expert talk on “Cultural Orientation in International Marketing” as part of Fourth talk in the series.

On 9th November 2017, the Third Talk was organized on the topic of “Strategic International Sourcing” by Ms Lipi Gajjar, Assistant Manager, Zydus Cadila Healthcare. She talked about involvement of international alliances in services industry with real life examples.

The Second Talk was organized on 26th August, 2017 on the topic of “Role of Media in Pharma Sector”.  The eminent expert was Mr. Kamal Bhatt, founder and Managing Director of a startup named “HealthEdge Communications”.

In this series the FIRST Talk was organized on 22nd July, 2017 on the topic of “ Investment opportunities in financial products for beginners" by Mr. Johnson Kandi, Sr. Manager (HR) Tradebulls Securities Pvt. Ltd was invited for the session.

2. Leadership Workshop for Students:

As a part of Personality Growth Lab, CMSR organized a three days’ Work shop on “FLY-Finding the Leader in You” in association with IIT Gandhinagar: Competitiveness Mindset Initiative (CMI-IITGN) during 19-21 December, 2019. Dr. Viraj Vora, Ms. Anurima Chatterjee and Ms. Shalvi Agarwal were the master trainers from CMI-IITGN for the workshop.

The workshop covered the practical learning on the 5 non-cognitive skills (also called the Five Pillars of Competitiveness) as the most important for competitiveness. Conscientiousness, Perseverance, Innovativeness, Taking Initiative and Problem Solving.Students learnt the roles and responsibilities of leader in successful implementation of strategy and creative cohesive work environment. 

3. Entrepreneurship Awarness Program:

With the objective to develop the entrepreneurial skills of management students Ganpat University, Centre for Entrepreneurship and Centre for Management Studies & Research jointly organized Entrepreneurship Awareness Program in association with Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Government of Gujarat.  Mr Darshit Bhatt, Project Leader, CED, Naroda Campus delivered the session with a zeal to inculcate the entrepreneurial culture and environment in such a way that students get encouraged to opt for an entrepreneurial career. This Awareness Program was scheduled on November 14, 2019, where more than 100 students enthusiastically participated

4. Ganpat University, Ex MBA Alumni-GEMS 16th meet:

 The Annual General Meet of VMPIM-CMS GEMS, the Alumni Association of Faculty of Management, Ganpat University, was held on 9th March, 2019 at the ceremonial lawns, Madhuli, SG Highway, Ahmedabad. The function was graced by Honourable President of Ganpat University, Padmashri Ganpatbhai Patel, Dr. Mahendra Sharma, Director General, Ganpat University, Dr. Amit Patel, Registrar, Dr. Sourbhi Chaturvedi, Dean, Faculty of Management, Dr. Maurvi Vasavada, Chairperson, CMSR and Dr. Hiren Patel, Head, VMPIM.

This year, a unique concept was instituted, namely, the Distinguished Alumni Awards. Nominations were invited from the alumni. After careful scrutiny by a committee, awards were conferred on deserving alumni from different fields.

The meeting further moved on to the election of new committee members of GEMS Alumni Association, namely President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. The election process was conducted by secret voting and all members enthusiastically participated in it. Mr. Paras Shah  - President; Dr. Mittal Dattani – Vice President; Mr. Dwarkesh Choksi – Secretary; Mr. Pratik Patel – Treasurer were elected.

The new committee was handed over charge by the outgoing President Dr. Mayur Shah and Vice President Dr. Rajen Purohit. The VMPIM-CMS GEMS Alumni Association honoured Shri Ganpatbhai Patel on being conferred the civilian honour Padma Shri. On behalf of the Alumni Association, Dr. Rajen Purohit offered a ‘pagdi’ as a mark of respect.

The meet ended with a grand dinner where alumni and family mingled with each other and faculties. Everyone departed the venue with fond memories of a glorious evening with friends and colleagues.

5. Heritage Walk for Management students 2019:

Along the professional skills the management students must learn about their heritage and culture, which strengthen their value system and help to take decisions. It was decided to take the students of CMSR on heritage walk every year. This year also they have been assigned with the topics on which they need to collect information and to prepare detailed report, like “Branding of Ahmedabad as Heritage City”, “Promotional strategies for Ahmedabad Heritage Walk”, “Business Opportunity Identification within the Heritage Route”, “City planning lessons from the Pols” and “Strategies for preserving the traditional culture and heritage of Ahmedabad”.

6. CTF 2018:

On 28th October, 2018 Chills, Thrills & Frills. A Sunday Fun-day planned out by the students of CMSR. The event designed, organized and executed by the students themselves. The event was completely organized on self-sustained way i.e. on zero cost to institute basis.  Various activities planned, to showcase creativity, stage presence and spontaneity. The events were- # CMS-GNU-The Social Media Game, Clickcreative (Spot Photography), Cerebral Champ’s (The Quiz Contest), Culture chew- The Indian Foodstival, Cut-N-Carve (Vegetable carving), Creatoster (Poster Making), CMS kiKhoj (Treasure Hunt) and CTF Idol (singing competition).

7. Level Based Workshop on “Research Paper Writing and Application of SPSS – Level II”:

With an objective to bridge the beginners and research concept and professional writing technique Ganpat University, Centre for Management Studies and Research organized a level based workshop on “Research Paper writing and Application of SPSS”. The workshop is divided into three levels. The levels are scheduled at several intervals to give time to the learners to understand and practice the tools.

Level-I: focusing the technical writing, conceptual teaching and application of SPSS tools for basic level analysis (organized on 17 December, 2017)

Level-II : focusing on Hands-on Practice on literature review drafting, application of analytical tools on actual data and application of ANOVA and other regression methods with practice work. (organized on 7 January, 2018)

Level-III: focusing on writing and presenting a research paper in consultation with subject matter specialists.

The workshop received 43 participants from various colleges across Gujarat. The participant group was blend of researchers and faculty members from fields like commerce, science, engineering and management. The content writing topic was delivered by Dr. Sapna Parashar, Associate Professor, Nirma Univerisity. Dr. Vivek Bhatt, Senior Faculty from Amrut Mody School of Management delivered session on Scaling and Measurement Techniques, Research Design and Sampling Techniques and Dr. Hitesh Parmar, Dept. of Business Management, S.P. University talked about Advance level data analysis. Dr. Rachita Jayswal and Dr Nirav Halvadiya explained the Basic Level Data Analysis to the beginners. Dr Tejal Shah coordinated the Level-I workshop.

8. Workshop on “Learn the Basics of Photography and DSLR”:

A One-day workshop was organized for photography enthusiast to learn the basics of professional photography and DSLRs with actual training on various tools and equipment of the camera and its use in different shades of lights. 52 participants from different colleges of Ahmedabad participated in the workshop.

9. Industry Expert Session on"How to be successful Exporter?"


Industry expert session was organized on 30th August 2016 in association with Federation of Indian Export Organisations. Mr. Kaushalendra Pratapsingh, Deputy Directorate General of Foreign Trade (Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India), Mr. Nathabhai Nangas Assistant DGFT (Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India) and Mr. Jayprakash Goel, Head, Federation of Indian Export Organisations (WR), Ahmedabad delivered expert talk.  The theme of the session was “How to be a successful Exporter? Session covered standard procedure to be an Exporter, detail description about documents required for the same and key skills set required to be a successful exporter. The experts guided the students to create the link between Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India and small scale companies. They also explained how to use the official weblinks for data mining and market analysis practically. The entire event was sponsored by Federation of Indian Export Organisations.


10. Industry Expert Session on "Negotiation is a Science or Art?"


The Industry expert session was organized on 13th August 2016 on “Negotiation is a Science or Art?” Mr. Neelkamal Mohanty, CEO, Rthym Infocom. Pvt. Ltd delivered the expert talk with presentation and role play, which has covered the practical aspects and real time examples from industry related to negotiation. The students of FMS attended the session with full strength.

11. “Nitty-Gritty of Export Management”

To provide a platform to the students of management to get the real life learning from the industry experts, Faculty of Management Studies  initiated to organize the series of Student Development Workshops. The theme for different workshop is planned to identifie on basis of relevant contemporary issues, focusing on one or group of industries, which links the theoretical approach to practical one.

In similar line, on 30-31 October 2015, FMS organized a student development workshop on “Nitty-Gritty of Export Management” with an aim to impart practical and intensive training to the students to take time out to learn on an idea they already have on Export Management. The skills and knowledge that participants will acquire at this workshop will enable them to implement and interlink the theoretical knowledge into the actual business environment. The workshop conducted by Mr. Pankaj Ahir, a Renowned Consultant on International Business Development. The highlighted topics of the workshop were Innovative ways of export, Export Cycle & Procedure, Export Management & Marketing, SPANCO Methodology, Export Strategy Designing, Information Technology and Export Marketing & Strategy, INCOTERMS, International Payment Terms, Understanding of Letter of Credit (L/C), Export Finance & FOREX, Overseas business trip planning, Understanding of Excise procedure for export, Shipping & Custom Procedure for export / import and Export Incentive Schemes by GOI. Each session was followed by question answer rounds and practical case studies.

12. Agripreneurship Development Programme in association with The Centre for Entrepreneurship Development – Gandhinagar

On 22 February 2016 to 25 February 2016, Faculty of Management Studies has organized a Student development workshop for Agripreneurship in association with CED, Gandhinagar. This five days workshop is designed to get the opportunity to have direct interaction of the students to Government officials and entrepreneurs. The issues covered under this workshop were “Government support for small entrepreneurs / Industrial policy 2015”, “E-commerce – a platform for Agri. and food and farm produce product”,  “Social Entrepreneurship –opportunity in rural and agriculture sector”, “Business opportunity in Agri.Business”, “Horticulture commercial importance and various schemes of State Govt”,  “Technical and commercial aspects of small business, “Importance of hygiene for Agro food processing- applicable law overview”  and “Export / Import / Value addition in Agri produce” etc. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. C. Chatterjee, Director, CED, Gandhinagar, Dr. Vinod Jain, Director, Paraj Organics and Dr. Mahendra Sharma, Director, Ganpat University.
